Join It Redux

A bike wheel, a warmer logo, and a concept that never saw daylight.

A client's love for cycling, the logo they already had, and a concept that never made it out the door.

I'm excited to share a concept I put together for Join It.

Bit of backstory behind the theme:

Join It is a membership management software product, built around getting people to join something and then giving them a reason to stick around. And as it happens, the team loves cycling.

Those two things turned out to be the same idea wearing different clothes, which is the part I couldn't stop chewing on. Look at a bike wheel long enough and you start to see it: dozens of spokes, every one of them under tension, all pulling toward the same hub. No single spoke holds that wheel up, and if you pull a few out the whole thing folds.

That's community building, described in hardware.

They already had the bones for it, too. Their existing mark is a set of arrows turning inward, every one pointing at the same center, which is honestly most of the way there already.

So the note I kept coming back to on the whiteboard was a simple one: how can we make this warmer and friendlier?

This one never made it to fruition, which happens more often than anybody admits. Concepts don't always get to grow up. But I'd rather show it to you than let it sit in a folder for another year.

Without further adieu, here's how I'd reimagine Join It.

So, what did you think? Anything you'd change?

Reply and tell me, I read every one.
